Palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions are an important technology in both industrial andacademic laboratories. This lecture will detail the development of our biarylphosphine-based catalyst systems that overcome many of the challengesthat still remain for this methodology. A rationale for the combination of the high levels of activity and theselectivity that these catalysts manifest will be presented. In addition, the application of thesecatalysts for the preparation of a number of classes of heterocycles will bedescribed.
