Congratulations to CU undergraduate Tyler St. Denis on receiving a 2013 Goldwater Scholarship. Tyler is currently doing research in the chemistry lab of Professor James Leighton.
Goldwater scholarships were established by congress in 1986 to assist outstanding students in their pursuit of careers in mathematics, the natural sciences, and engineering. Tyler will receive a stipend of up to $7.5K annually for tuition and other expenses. More information about Goldwater scholarships can be found on the and the on the website of the .
The chemistry department congratulates Professor Ged Parkin on receiving a 2013 Lenfest Distinguished Faculty Award. Established on a donation from trustee Gerry Lenfest (Law '58), the Lenfest award recognizes faculty who demonstrate unusual merit in scholarship, university citizenship, and professional involvement. The awards place particular emphasis on the instruction and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students. Professor Parkin receives an award of $25,000 for a three-year period and will be honored at the award dinner on February 27.
