USAT
Bridgeport (USAT = United States Army Transport), that carried Ruth and
Pam Ives from Brooklyn to Bremerhaven, Germany, January 3-18, 1947, to join
Pam's dad Lieutenant Charles Ives, in Stuttgart. According to
this newspaper clipping the voyage was scheduled for
December 23, 1946, but the departure was delayed. They would have sailed
from the Brooklyn Army Terminal. Pam was 1½ years old and Warren was
on the way. Did you know that in WWII, the Army had its own navy?
