These are photos taken downtown in the Hauptbahnhof area by Maurice Monasmith, Alan's father, in 1957. This one shows the free-kill zone in front of the Bahnhof where you have to dash across active trolley tracks to transfer from one line to the other. The 17 on the left goes to our zone (PX and housing areas) and then, as the sign says, on to Ginnheim.
