2235 Platenstraße. This is the standard design for Army housing for
families of noncomissioned and company-grade officers in Frankfurt and many
other installations in Germany: three stories + attic; three entrances and
three stairwells with two apartments per stairwell per floor, one on each
side, so eighteen families per building. Every apartment has a balcony with
a big picture window, and every apartment has windows on at least two sides.
The apartments on each end of the building have three bedrooms and two
baths; the other ones have (I think) two bedrooms and one bath. There's
also a basement with lockable storage rooms for the tenants. There were
other forms of housing for the higher ranks, up to and including private
houses for the families of generals.
