The flagpole at Peacock Park near Amsterdam Avenue, which is where that
hideous statue is today. One day we met Kathy Boudin and her baby Chesa (same
age as Peter) there and spent the afternoon with them, without knowing Kathy's
real name (she was in the Weather underground and had been in the East 11th
Street townhouse when it blew up in 1970, killing our friend Ted Gold). The
next day we saw Kathy on the news in handcuffs after the Brinks truck robbery.
She's still in prison. I heard on the news recently that Chesa is a Rhodes
scholar.
