Chesterbrook pool site 1953

This is the land that was partially cleared before work started on the Chesterbrook swimming club, where the parking lot is now: on Kirby Road at Halsey Road (which didn't exist then), adjacent to the pumphouse (which is still just as it was 70 years ago), and beyond it Old Chesterbrook Road (settled by freed slaves after the Civil War) and its First Baptist church, the oldest structure in the area. I wonder if the abandoned cabin in the photo was a remnant from that era.
