This picture was not taken by me, I found it at http://www.survol.de/ffm/ffmpic/ffmbilder.htm [now defunct] but it's perfect for comparison with your father's picture. The large building at the left is an art museum, the building at the right is soon to be demolished and replaced with a more sensible reflection of the former Altstadt.
