Nutrition Components of Clinical Practice

The focus of this unit in Clinical Practice is "applied nutrition", that is the tools you need to translate biochemistry into assessing and advising patients on their food intake, taking into account that eating is a complex behavior, influenced by innumerable psychosocial and cultural factors, and that nutritional needs vary throughout the lifecycle and in illness and health. The emphasis will be on three key areas:

  • Nutrition through the lifecycle
  • Nutritional assessment
  • The role of nutrition in promoting health and preventing disease
