Maudene Nelson, MS, RD, CDE
Ms. Nelson is a Registered Dietitian, New York State Certified
Dietitian-Nutritionist, and a Certified Diabetes Educator at the
Institute of Human Nutrition. She teaches in the Masters and Doctoral
programs (M6220 An Overview of Foods in Nutrition and M6240 Essentials
of Nutrition Counseling), is course director for M8207 Clinical
Nutrition, contributes to the Clinical Practice course for the College
of Physicians and Surgeons, and teaches P8722 Community Nutrition
Programs in the Mailman School of Public Health. Ms. Nelson also
coordinates opportunities for worksite and community nutrition projects.

At the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center at the Columbia-Presbyterian
Medical Center Ms. Nelson teaches classes on nutrition, exercise,
and weight management to adults and children.
Ms. Nelson has been active with the American Diabetes Association
(currently serving on the National Board of Directors) and the American
Heart Association (previously serving on the Board of Directors
of the New York City Affiliate, the Advisory Council, Heart-at-Work,
Nutrition Counseling Workshop Planning Committee, and as a member
of the Nutrition Committee). She has also served on the Editorial
Board for RN Magazine.
