Wahida Karmally is the Director of Nutrition in The Irving Center for Clinical Research, and an Associate Research Scientist and Lecturer in Dentistry at Columbia University. Ms. Karmally has served as chairman of The Nutrition Committee of the American Heart Association (New York City Affiliate) and member of several AHA committees including Physicians' Cholesterol Education Program, Public Policy and Government Affairs, Women and Heart disease, Prevention Cardiology and she has served on its board of directors for two terms. She is presently Media spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association. In this capacity she is frequently interviewed by National print and broadcast media. Ms. Karmally teaches medical, dental and nutrition students, and is responsible for the nutrition component at the research rotation for the residents in Internal Medicine. She is a doctoral candidate in Nutrition and Health Policy at Columbia University and is a Certified Diabetes Educator.
