Multimedia Building Monographs

The Multimedia Building Monographs project includes a set of interdisciplinary, networked case studies of major American architectural projects. Individual case studies, called volumes, include an overview of a building, a description of its architectural importance, and a summary of its technical systems. In depth analyses of each project's structural, building enclosure and HVAC systems are currently being added, along with facsimiles of construction documents, 3-D detail models, published critical essays and a selected bibliography. A demonstration testbed volume analyzing the Farnsworth House, including all these materials, is complete at this time (February 1995). Volumes serve as classroom and reference aids to improve the teaching of engineering design to undergraduates. Design oriented homeworks and group projects at both freshman and senior levels are included.
