 | Prof. Rafa Yuste receives 2013 NIH Director’s Pioneer Award |
We are happy to announce that
Prof. Rafael Yuste has been named a recipient of an NIH Director's Pioneer
Award, sponsored by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), for his work on the
functional connectomics of the neocortical microcircuit. Through this award,
the NIH supports scientists "of exceptional creativity, who propose pioneering
- and possibly transforming approaches - to major challenges in biomedical and
behavioral research." The award supports researchers taking on high-risk,
potentially high-reward studies that represent a major departure from the work
previously done in their lab or elsewhere.
The NIH Director's Pioneer
Award provides up to $500,000 per year for 5 years. It offers researchers
unmatched opportunity and freedom to explore exciting new research avenues that
could lead to seminal work in their field. Rafa was one of only 10 recipients
of this national award in 2013.
Congratulations, Rafa!
